ya know, nathon was sayin that he never heard of any camps for DB people. it hjust occurred to me that I should make a topic about it. why not. this place is cool. there's a web site,
www.deafblindcampofmd.org/
we do all kinds of stuff here. boating, biking, motercycles, arts and crafts, they take a trip someplace each summer. every year there is a theem and they always have a big dance too. there's hiking, swimming, archery etc. they have SSP's, so that you can communicate, and they make sure to help you get around like being your guide if you need it. I know there are other db camps, but I haven't been to them.

I used to go to the one in Michigan, in fact I was the VP of the db organization there for awhile, but then I moved away. It was always a lot of fun, and well worth the $25 fee that you had to pay. A lot of states are developing these types of things, and it's really neat to observe some of the communication methods that go on there. Finger braille, for example, is a really cool concept. I just don't have many people around here to practice with.

Picturing folks gathered around a campfire, signing (not singing) songs, and signing stories. Haha.

Its more like folks around a campfire, some signing goin on, some oral stuff goin on, eating smores and laughter, and such.
